Jimmy Thunder is an award-winning economic development director, adjunct professor, registered professional trainer and gifted keynote speaker who is on a mission to enhance the self-determination and resilience of First Nations through economic development.

Meet Jimmy

Professional First Nation Consultant

Jimmy is currently the director of economic development for Norway House Cree Nation, the 2023 winner of CANDO’s Economic Developer of the Year Award. He is also an adjunct professor teaching Indigenous Economic Leadership (University of Manitoba) and Indigenous Ministry (Horizon College and Seminary).

He has been a panelist on the topic of ‘Teaching Indigenous Economics’ for the Canadian Economics Association.

The Council for Christian Higher Education has invited him to speak to the leaders of post-secondary theological institutions across Canada on Indigenizing Christian Higher Education.

Jimmy is a trained facilitator through the Indigenous Leadership Development Institute and enjoys helping First Nations enhance their capacity and meet their goals.
